I've bought a body and neck for a strat-type guitar.
The neck is canary with ebony fingerboard, and the body is swamp ash with a canary laminated top.
You can see pictures of them here:

I would like the ash to resemble the canary neck in colors, and I need a bit of advice in how to best do that.
So far my idea is this for the ash:
(1) 2-3 coats of water based grain filler (mahogany) - to fill and enhance the grain.
(2) a coat of solar lux stain to make it resemble the coloring of the neck. Looking at the chart I would think maybe light brown or light red mahogany, or maybe lemon yellow.
After that I would finish both back and front with several coats of tung oil.
What do you think? Any advice would be welcome.
